The integrity of a pipeline depends on the proper surface preparation and coating of freshly welded field joints (girth welds). These areas must be blast cleaned, pre-heated, and coated in accordance with international standards such as DNV-RP-F102.

Bauhuis designs and manufactures a wide range of automated and mechanical field joint blasting systems, featuring hydraulic-driven turbines or vacuum blast nozzles for efficient and consistent surface treatment.

After heating and blasting, the field joint coating systems apply either liquid epoxy or FBE (fusion bonded epoxy) to seamlessly connect the joint area with the factory-applied parent coating. Special solutions are available for offshore applications, including both horizontal (S-lay) and vertical (J-lay) lay barge configurations.
